EXCLUSIVE: After Jolly LLB 3, Star Studio18-PVR Inox now fight over VPF for Huma Qureshi-starrer Single Salma

Bollywood Hungama has been at the forefront in reporting about the tussle between the national chains, namely PVR, Inox and Cinepolis, and the producers over the payment of VPF (Virtual Print Fee). Last month, the industry got a jolt after PVR Inox suspended the advance booking of the much-awaited film, Jolly LLB 3, starring Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, after its producers, Star Studio18, refused to pay VPF. The advance was halted twice, once just before 12 hours of the commencement of the first show. As per reports, the studio paid VPF but made it clear that they are doing so under protest and that they would continue with their discussion on this issue. More than a month later, the VPF has once again caused a rift, this time due to Single Salma. A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “Single Salma is also made by Star Studio18 and they once again requested a VPF waiver from PVR Inox and also Cinepolis. However, the request was not adhered to. The discussions are going on. If a solution is not found, Single Salma will find a release only in the non-national theatres of the country.”As per trade sources, Single Salma is expected to get a release in around 200 screens. The film stars Huma Qureshi in the lead, and co-incidentally, she was also a part of Jolly LLB 3. Shreyas Talpade and Sunny Singh also feature in Single Salma. Hence, they felt justified in asking for a waiver since Jolly LLB 3 is a 2025 release. But PVR Inox argued that the agreement mentions that the studio will stop paying VPF, subject to other production houses doing the same.”On September 30, the Competition Commission of India (CCI), on September 30, 2025 directed an investigation against PVR INOX Limited over allegations of abusing its dominant position by continuing to levy VPF on film producers. The downsizing comes as the David Ellison-Bari Weiss era of CBS News kicks into high gear CBS News eliminated multiple streaming programs on Wednesday as part of newsroom-wide layoffs, just one part of Paramount’s sweeping job cuts and a blow to the news organization’s headcount as Bari Weiss’ already turbulent tenure as editor in chief gets into full swing. The cuts affected CBS News’ streaming companion shows to “CBS Mornings” and “CBS Evening News,” both of which were canceled, according. ‘Should be very scared’: Fox News host issues grave warning about Trump’s Asia trip

Fox News host Jessica Tarlov issued a grave warning Wednesday about President Donald Trump’s Asia trip during a new broadcast of “The Five” on Wednesday. Trump is traveling in Asia this week, where he is expected to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping to negotiate a trade deal over rare earth minerals that are used to build semiconductors. Tarlov warned that Trump may allow China to purchase powerful semiconductors from NVIDIA in exchange for China purchasing more soybeans from American farmers. China stopped purchasing soybeans from American farmers in May after Trump imposed new tariffs on the country, according to reports. Instead, the country began buying soybeans from Argentina, which has caused the market for American soybeans to nearly collapse. NVIDIA is also currently prohibited from selling its most powerful Blackwell semiconductor chips to Chinese firms, which has allowed the U. S. to maintain an advantage over China in developing artificial intelligence technologies. “This trip, overall, is about Trump coming hat-in-hand to China and saying, ‘Will you please buy our soybeans again?'” Tarlov said. “The tariffs with China have created a huge amount of pain for Americans, especially for our farmers, and what I’m really worried about, and we will see what deal actually gets done, is that he is teasing the fact that he may allow them to buy NVIDIA chips,” Tarlov continued. Tarlov added that the Blackwell chips are estimated to be 20 times more powerful than any other chip on the market. “So people should be very scared about the fact that he is considering that to be one of the concessions for us to do a trade deal with them,” she added.
