They didn’t play badly necessarily, but they certainly weren’t as sharp defensively, and the Knicks were able to make some shots, shooting 45.3% from the field and 47.2% from three. Missing Ayo Dosunmu certainly didn’t help the Bulls defensively in that one. Hopefully, he’s back in the lineup for this one, and it looks like he should be after participating in shootaround this morning. Philly has one of the most electric guards in the game in Tyrese Maxey, and Jared McCain might be back in the lineup after being out since last season, so Ayo’s defense would be helpful. While the Bulls lost, Josh Giddey was really good again in Sunday’s game in New York. After coming up an assist shy of a triple-double on Friday at home against the Knicks, he was able to finish the job on Sunday night with 23 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds. For the season, he’s shooting 40.7% from three. It always felt like if he was ever able to develop a consistent three-point shot, he had the tools to be a really dangerous offensive player in this league, and that’s been showing really since the All-Star break of last season. At this rate, Giddey is an All-Star and the Bulls might have him on the most, or one of the most, team-friendly contracts in the NBA. With the addition of Jared McCain back into their lineup, Philly has one of the better young backcourts in the league with Maxey, McCain, and VJ Edgecombe. Edgecombe has been great to start the year, McCain was really good through 23 games last year before getting hurt, and Maxey is one of the top guards in the league right now. That trio, combined with a healthy Joel Embiid, creates a really tough matchup for the Bulls defensively.
