Man, 19, charged with shooting Bronzeville Jewel security guard arrested in Ariz., ordered detained

CHICAGO (WLS) — A man charged in connection with a shooting at a South Side grocery store back in November was ordered detained on Saturday. Elijah Theodore, 19, was arrested in Phoenix, Arizona and extradited back to Chicago last week. ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch Six people were left injured after the incident, which happened just before 11 a. m. on Nov. 11 at the Lake Meadows Shopping Center in the 400-block of East 34th Street. Two suspects entered a Jewel there, and when they tried to leave, a 46-year-old man, who witnesses said was a security guard, intervened, police said. Theodore allegedly opened fire, hitting the man. Police said two others were also shot. Chicago fire officials said two people were injured running away, as well, and another person suffered an unrelated injury. Theodore, who is facing an attempted murder charge, is due back in court on Friday.
