Throw the Ultimate ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Watch Party—Just in Time for Tuesday’s Finale

This Tuesday, Nov. 25, is the season finale of Dancing with the Stars (DWTS). But don’t cry because it happened, throw a party because it’s over (complimentary). To send off this dazzling season of flips, kicks, and minimal lifts, Carrie Ann, we’ve put together a guide to throwing the most show-stopping DWTS watch party ever-in the comfort of your own home! Decorating with the Stars Turn your living room into a mini ballroom with just a few simple, sparkly touches. If you have a mirrorball handy, great, but if not, you can capture the essence with some tinsel or garland you have on hand. Silver ornaments give the same effect. As for where to decorate, focus on your TV stand, end tables, and kitchen table, the most high-traffic but out-of-the-way areas. You don’t want to obstruct the dance floor or your guests’ sight lines. Don’t use glitter to decorate-you’ll never get it all cleaned up! Food and Drinks That’ll Make You Dance This is where the real fun begins. DWTS is absolutely bursting with menu inspiration. Here are a few of our favorite ideas: Food Pastadoble: If you’re in the entree-serving mood, pastadoble is an adorable spin on one of our favorite Latin dances. Pick your favorite noodle and switch your favorite pasta sauce for a slightly hotter version. Add a protein, if desired. Cha-Chacuterie: In more of a grazing mood? Give your favorite snack board a DWTS upgrade-even if that means just making a placard that says cha-chacuterie. Just keep an eye on the clock; most snack boards shouldn’t be at room temperature for more than two hours-perfect for an episode of DWTS! Chips and salsa: Self-explanatory. Mirrorball cupcakes: What’s a party without a sweet treat? Whip up a small batch of cupcakes for your guests to decorate while they watch (great for nervous, idle hands) or simply decorate them with silver sprinkles. Everyone’s a winner when the cupcakes come out. Drinks You can get really cheeky with your DWTS beverage options. Here are a few ideas: Freestyle: Feeling micheveous? In honor of the famed finale freestyle dances, have your guests mix their own drinks. Mango Tango Margarita (with a Twist): Ever wondered what “with a twist” means when ordering a drink? It simply means garnishing your cocktail with a citrus peel. For a base, try a mango margarita (mostly because mango rhymes with tango.) Samba Spritz: The possibilities are endless when it comes to mixing up a spritz. Just keep in mind the trusty spritz formula. Spritzes are also incredibly easy to adapt into non-alcoholic versions. Hot Buttered Rumba: A DWTS take on our Hot Buttered Rum cocktail recipe, this drink will have you feeling warm and fuzzy even if your favorite dance duo doesn’t win the trophy. Watch Party Activities You don’t want too busy an itinerary-after all, DWTS is for watching, not talking over. But here are a few activities that won’t take away from the finale. Instant dances: During commercial breaks, challenge guests to their own instant dances, another beloved part of each DWTS finale. Give guests the length of one commercial break to choreograph a 60-second routine with a partner, then have them perform it at the next commercial break. Bingo: Bingo is a classic game, and reality TV elevates it. If you want your guests to be locked in on the finale, this is a great play-while-you-watch activity. There are plenty of online bingo card generators out there-just give the generator your ideas and have it whip up the number of unique cards you need. Here are a few prompts to get started : Someone cries in their skybox interview The audience boos a judge’s feedback Jordan Chiles does a flip Perfect score! A male star takes off his shirt Jenna dances with Val Someone mentions the DWTS podcast DIY your own judges’ paddle: Ever disagreed with the judges? You and your guests can right their wrongs by making your own numbered paddles. Just set your party start time to an hour before the finale to give plenty of arts and crafts time. Use chalkboard paint so you can edit your scores from dance to dance instead of having to whip up dozens of paddles. How to Watch the DWTS Finale The finale of Dancing With The Stars airs this coming Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 8 p. m. Eastern/5 p. m. Pacific on ABC and Disney+. Hulu will also stream the finale the next day, but why would you miss this?.
