Ghost of Yōtei gets free New Game Plus and cosmetics next week

Sharpen your katana, because Ghost of Yōtei is set to give you a reason to head back to Ezo for another revenge-filled journey. Sucker Punch Productions and Sony Interactive Entertainment announced Wednesday the open-world adventure will receive a New Game Plus mode on Nov. 24. as part of a free patch. As expected, New Game Plus will allow you to play through the entire game with all the weapons, armor, and abilities you’ve collected on your first playthrough. For armor and weapons, a new tier of upgrades will become available. Also included are two new trophies and harder difficulty options. As Ghost of Yōtei is nothing if not a fashionable game, a new currency, Ghost Flowers, will be added to unlock new cosmetic items. “Exchange with a new vendor for more than 30 new cosmetics including new armor sets and weapon dyes, plus 10 new charms,” reads the PlayStation Blog post announcing New Game Plus. Eye-catching sword kits, straw hats, masks, and more are shown off in the New Game Plus trailer. New Game Plus and its offerings aren’t the only new content coming in next week’s patch. It’ll add the ability to replay content in the post-game for when you want to cut down some outlaws again without starting the game from scratch. Those replayable challenges will come with stat tracking. However, the trailer or blog post don’t give much in terms of details as to what stats will be tracked, only showing the time it took Atsu to complete a duel. “New accessibility options including directional button remapping, and new Photo Mode features including shutter speed, a composition grid, and new filters,” are also arriving in the update, according to the blog post.
