Chris Franklin’s 21-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter helped UT Martin secure a 17-14 victory over Charleston Southern on Saturday. Franklin’s touchdown came with 6:53 remaining in the game, giving the Skyhawks a crucial lead.
Charleston Southern responded as Zolten Osborne led a promising drive down the field. However, their momentum was halted when Osborne was sacked on fourth-and-5 at the UT Martin 37-yard line with just 3:30 left on the clock.
Jase Bauer had an impressive performance for UT Martin, completing 18 of 26 passes for 252 yards and one touchdown. He also contributed on the ground, rushing for 54 yards on six carries. Franklin finished the game with 31 yards rushing.
Phaizon Wilson was a key target for UT Martin’s offense, recording 120 yards receiving on seven catches.
With this win, UT Martin improves their standing as they continue their season in competitive form.
