**DHS Reports Arrest of Man Making Death Threats Against ICE Officers Amid Surge in Violence**
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Saturday that Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) arrested a man who allegedly posted online death threats targeting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.
The suspect, identified as Joseph Giancola, was apprehended by special agents in Fort Myers, Florida. Online, he allegedly used the pseudonym “Cain Delon” on the social media platform Bluesky.
According to DHS, there has been an 8,000% increase in death threats against ICE officers amid President Donald Trump’s intensified crackdown on illegal immigration. Some of the threatening posts attributed to Giancola include statements such as:
– “Shoot the ICE Nazis down like the rabid dogs they are.”
– “Just get a gun and shoot the ICE Nazis down.”
– “Shoot ICE gestapo dead. They come near me, and I shoot to kill. Be warned.”
– “Get out your guns and shoot them down.”
DHS also reported a more than 1,000% rise in assaults against ICE agents in conjunction with the spike in threats.
**DHS Condemns Threats and Violence Against ICE Officers**
“This cowardly individual made repeated disgusting death threats against ICE law enforcement officers,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin in an official statement. “He is now in federal custody and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
McLaughlin further highlighted the unprecedented level of violence facing ICE officers, noting, “From bounties placed on their heads for their murders, threats to their families, stalking, and doxxing online, our officers are experiencing an unprecedented level of violence and threats against them and their families.”
She emphasized, “Threaten violence or death to our law enforcement? You’ll end up behind bars like this guy.”
DHS reaffirmed its commitment to protecting its personnel and ensuring that individuals who threaten violence are held accountable and prosecuted fully under the law.
**DHS Attributes Surge in Attacks to Political and Media Rhetoric**
The department placed blame on the rhetoric used by politicians and media outlets for the surge in threats and assaults against ICE officers. DHS warned public figures to “tone down their rhetoric” when discussing ICE and other law enforcement agents.
“Comparing ICE day-in and day-out to the Nazi Gestapo, the Secret Police, and slave patrols has consequences,” DHS stated. “Like everyone else, America’s ICE and CBP agents are hardworking men and women who have families and are real people. The violence and dehumanization of these men and women who are simply enforcing the law must stop.”
**Additional Examples of Threats Against ICE Officers**
On Thursday, DHS raised alarms over the increase in threats, citing specific cases. Eduardo Aguilar, a Mexican national residing illegally in Dallas, Texas, was arrested earlier this month for allegedly soliciting the murder of ICE agents in a TikTok post.

The ongoing escalation of threats and violence against ICE officers underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement personnel tasked with enforcing immigration laws amid a highly charged political environment. DHS continues to monitor the situation closely and take necessary actions to safeguard its officers.
