German firm Capricorn Group, known for supplying components to Formula 1 and various racing teams, has introduced its debut supercar: the 01 Zagato. This striking mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive machine boasts a carbon-fiber exterior designed by the renowned coachbuilder Zagato, emphasizing a pure, emotional driving experience over extensive tech and digital displays.
**Powertrain and Performance**
At the heart of the 01 Zagato lies a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine sourced from Ford, paired with a unique five-speed dogleg manual transmission. This potent combination delivers an impressive 888 horsepower and 1,001 Nm of torque exclusively to the rear wheels. Thanks to this setup, the supercar accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in under three seconds and achieves a top speed of 360 km/h.
The car is equipped with specialized components including a dry sump lubrication system, bespoke crankshaft, pistons, and exhaust. Additionally, it features a proprietary ECU tune alongside custom ABS software designed to optimize performance.
**Design and Braking**
The 01 Zagato rides on Capricorn-designed 21-inch wheels available in lightweight alloy or carbon fiber variants. Behind these wheels, carbon ceramic brakes with six-piston calipers developed by Brembo ensure strong and reliable stopping power.
The exterior showcases clean aerodynamic lines without prominent wings, instead generating significant downforce through “internal airflow management” and meticulously engineered underfloor designs. Front and rear diffusers, together with a subtle rear airfoil, further enhance aerodynamic efficiency. The underlying carbon-fiber chassis incorporates a monocoque structure along with integrated crash members and front/rear subframes for rigidity and safety.
**Interior Highlights**
Inside, the cabin exudes exclusivity and craftsmanship with extensive use of exposed carbon fiber complemented by solid titanium and aluminum switchgear. The seats combine Connolly leather with Alcantara accents, and buyers have the option to customize upholstery to their tastes.
The driver-focused cockpit features three analog gauges situated behind a leather-wrapped steering wheel equipped with only two buttons: start-stop and drive mode selector—reaffirming the car’s minimalist but purposeful design ethos.
**Limited Production and Pricing**
Capricorn Group plans to commence production of the 01 Zagato during the first half of 2026. Production will be strictly limited to just 19 units worldwide, none of which will be available for sale in the United States. Pricing for this exclusive supercar is set at €2.95 million (approximately $3.4 million).
