Nebraska Volleyball’s Andi Jackson Praises Coach Dani Busboom Kelly’s Training Style
Nebraska Volleyball middle blocker Andi Jackson recently spoke about her experience training under head coach Dani Busboom Kelly, describing it as a fun and fulfilling journey. The Huskers remain undefeated so far this season, a testament to Busboom Kelly’s effective coaching approach that has helped the team maintain its No. 1 ranking.
The Huskers have showcased impressive performance this season, with eight home wins, seven away victories, and success on neutral courts — including a redemption win against Penn State. This peerless form can be largely attributed to the positive and competitive environment fostered by Busboom Kelly.
In a recent press conference, Jackson highlighted the coach’s ability to balance hard work and enjoyment during training. “Even if I have a tough day at training, the team makes me feel happy,” Jackson said.
She added, “Dani is awesome, and she’s in on our jokes. She’s been so fun to have. She’s just a girl, you know what I mean? It’s just so fun to talk to her because she just gets it. Like she’s played here before. She knows what it takes, and I respect her so much for who she is, everything that she does.”
Jackson further emphasized the unique team culture Busboom Kelly has created:
> “She knows the game and she’s competitive, but at the same time, she can have fun. Our practices are so competitive, but you never leave feeling like you didn’t get better. Even if you didn’t perform that well that day, you still leave feeling fulfilled because you had fun with your teammates and coaches. The environment is so fulfilling because Dani knows there’s a fine line between working hard and having fun, and every practice we do a great job staying on that line.”
Busboom Kelly took on the head coaching role for the Huskers in January 2025. She previously played as a libero for Nebraska during their 2006 national championship run, bringing invaluable experience and deep connections to the program.
Coach Dani Busboom Kelly on Competing at Away Games
In a recent interview with Hail Varsity, Busboom Kelly opened up about the significance of competing at away games. She expressed surprise and delight at the tremendous support shown by Husker fans, both volleyball enthusiasts and general Nebraska sports supporters.
“The road games have been the biggest surprise to me, and it’s not that the games are sold out. I felt like I was expecting that,” she said.
“It’s more about the people who are crazy about Nebraska Volleyball and the support we have. It’s not just volleyball fans; it’s true Husker fans. To see them there and know people traveled really far to come watch us on the road — it’s unique, and there’s nowhere else in the country like that. I can guarantee that.”
Upcoming Match
The Nebraska Volleyball team is set to face Northwestern next on October 24, 2025. Fans are eagerly anticipating another strong display from the undefeated Huskers under Busboom Kelly’s expert guidance.
