Dre Bullock scored 23 points and Harry Rouliadeff contributed 17 as the University of Hawaii basketball team rallied for a 93-77 exhibition victory over Chaminade on Sunday at Bankoh Arena in the Stan Sheriff Center.
An estimated crowd of 1,500 saw the Rainbow Warriors fall behind by as much as 68-61 against the Silverswords’ aggressive full-court press. However, UH forward Gytis Nemeiksa rebounded his own miss and scored on a putback to give the ’Bows a 75-74 lead with 3:42 remaining. From that point on, the Rainbow Warriors never trailed again.
Bullock, who transferred from South Dakota this summer, had several highlight plays in his first UH start, including a windmill jam following a steal.
The ’Bows dominated the boards 59-32, including a commanding 22-8 advantage on the offensive glass. Nemeiksa pulled down 12 rebounds while Bullock added eight boards along with three steals and two blocks.
Kent King led Chaminade with 23 points.
With this win, the Rainbow Warriors improved to 2-0 in preseason exhibitions. They will open the regular season on November 4 with a road game against Oregon.
