Quantic Dream, the studio behind acclaimed narrative-driven games like *Heavy Rain* and *Detroit: Become Human*, has confirmed that it is working on a competitive multiplayer video game. This marks a significant shift for the studio, which has traditionally focused exclusively on single-player experiences.
In a recent letter to fans, David Cage, the creative mind behind Quantic Dream, shared updates on the studio’s current projects. He revealed that the team has been developing “a competitive multiplayer experience,” highlighting that this new direction is a bold departure from their usual storytelling approach.
“But taking risks, challenging ourselves, exploring new ways of playing and telling stories, and attempting what seems impossible, has always been part of our DNA,” Cage wrote, emphasizing the studio’s commitment to innovation.
Alongside this multiplayer project, Quantic Dream continues to develop *Star Wars: Eclipse*, the narrative-driven game that was announced in 2021. While Cage did not provide new details about *Eclipse* in his letter, he confirmed that development is still ongoing.
With this move, Quantic Dream joins a growing list of major developers venturing into the multiplayer space amid an industry increasingly focused on live service models. Notably, last year, Rocksteady Games made a similar pivot with their upcoming title *Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League*.
Stay tuned as Quantic Dream expands its creative horizons and explores new ways to engage players beyond traditional single-player storytelling.
