New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart has quickly won over fans since taking over as the team’s starter in late September. One notable fan is none other than Charlie Manning, the son of Giants franchise legend and two-time Super Bowl champion Eli Manning.
During ESPN’s “ManningCast” on Monday, Eli revealed that Charlie is dressing up as Dart for Halloween. “(Charlie’s) got the chain, which is nice. The problem is he’s wanting to wear it — we got it last week, and he wants to wear it to school every day,” Eli shared during the broadcast.
Peyton Manning playfully teased his brother Eli, asking if it hurt that Charlie chose to dress up as another Giants quarterback instead of him. Eli admitted, “It hurts a little bit.”
While Charlie’s Halloween costume choice may sting Eli Manning, Dart himself appreciates the gesture. “I think it’s awesome. I’ve met Charlie a few times. Obviously, I’ve been around Eli a lot, and yeah, I think maybe, like he said, he’s a little disappointed it wasn’t him. But it’s just a cool relationship and I think it’s awesome,” Dart told reporters on Thursday.
The NFL recognized Dart’s impressive performance in October by naming him Offensive Rookie of the Month. In just four games, Dart led all rookie quarterbacks in total touchdowns (10), rushing touchdowns (7), and passer rating (90.0).
