Under Night In-Birth 2 came to the end of its current slate of DLC during EVO 2025, marking the completion of the game’s first season of content. It has been a long journey for the Under Night In-Birth series, and director Kamone Serizawa along with composer Raito have been thrilled to be part of it from the very beginning.
So, what comes next? Where does Under Night In-Birth go from here? Kamone and Raito sat down with us to discuss the evolution of the series and the future of the game.
Kamone expressed his deep gratitude to the players for their ongoing support. He never imagined that so many people would still be backing Under Night In-Birth 2 Sys: Celes on the main stage of EVO 2025—many years after the release of the first game and with back-to-back appearances at EVO’s main stage.
The team has been working on Under Night for 10 years, and with Izumi wrapping up the final run of DLC for UNI2, Kamone and Raito shared that they still have plans. They would love to continue working on the series and further evolve the game.
Since Raito was available, we also took the opportunity to ask about the game’s music. Over the years, Under Night In-Birth’s soundtrack has evolved significantly—from relatively simple, short-looping tunes at the start to more elaborate compositions today.
Raito explained that this was influenced by the shift in platforms. Initially, the music was developed for arcade settings, where players experience the game in short bursts with limited playtime. As the series expanded to home consoles and PC versions, players were able to enjoy the game at a more relaxed pace. This evolution shaped his approach to composing, resulting in the more complex and drawn-out music found in Under Night In-Birth 2 Sys: Celes.
With the first season concluded and exciting plans on the horizon, it’s clear that Under Night In-Birth’s journey is far from over. Fans can look forward to what Kamone, Raito, and the team have in store next.
