The company has announced plans to improve profitability by reviewing underperforming businesses, including its consumer electronics division, and cutting around 10,000 jobs globally.
According to sources, Panasonic—which manages key business areas such as consumer appliances and employs about 40% of the group’s workforce—will open applications for early retirement starting October 1st. The application period will last for one month.
Eligible employees for the early retirement program are those between the ages of 40 and 59, with at least five years of service. Retirement benefits will be supplemented based on age and other factors.
The company aims to complete the workforce reduction by the end of December as part of its broader strategy to strengthen profitability.
