Emmanuel Acho Reacts to Zion Williamson’s Impressive Physical Transformation Ahead of 2025-26 NBA Season
Former NFL player turned analyst Emmanuel Acho recently weighed in on Zion Williamson’s remarkable physical transformation as the New Orleans Pelicans prepared for the 2025-26 NBA season. Like many fans, Acho was surprised to see Williamson in such great shape during the Pelicans’ media day.
Throughout his six-year NBA career, Williamson’s fitness has often been a concern for both fans and analysts. The former No. 1 overall pick also battled a hamstring injury last season, which sidelined him for a significant portion of the campaign.
During a clip from his “SPEAKEASY” show, Acho suggested that Williamson has been taking Ozempic, a prescription medication primarily used to treat type 2 diabetes but also popular as a weight-loss aid.
“I know Ozempic when I see it,” Acho said. “I don’t even need these glasses for it. I can spot Ozempic without this.”
Acho urged Williamson to straighten things out, focusing on his physical and mental health, and to avoid off-court distractions if he wants to help the Pelicans become a competitive team.
“Zion was supposed to be the next superstar of the NBA, and it just hasn’t materialized. Number one, take care of your physical, Zion, but also take care of your mentals, bro. He’s had more drama off the court than he has on the court, and we all want to see Zion shine.”
Zion Williamson’s Career and Recent Performance
Over five seasons, Williamson has struggled to stay healthy, never playing more than 70 games in a single campaign. Last season, he appeared in only 30 games but still managed to average 24.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, shooting an efficient 56.7% from the field and 65.6% from the free-throw line.
Zion Williamson Reveals Unique Training Regimen in Offseason
On Tuesday, Williamson spoke with reporters about his offseason training routine. He revealed that he has been working closely with Pelicans’ trainer Daniel Bove, incorporating unconventional workouts — including sessions on the football field.
“We came up with a plan from boxing to working out on the football field a lot to just different random workouts,” Williamson explained. “And during that timeframe last year, I really felt a shift in my body to where I would look at him and go, ‘Dude, it feels good to feel good.’ I haven’t felt like this since college, high school, just where I can walk into a gym and I feel good.”
Looking Ahead: Pelicans’ Prospects for the Season
Last season was challenging for New Orleans, as the Pelicans posted a disappointing 21-61 record. With Zion’s renewed focus on fitness and mental health, the team hopes to turn things around in the upcoming season.
Basketball fans in New Orleans, who have also endured a rough start to the year with the 0-3 New Orleans Saints, are eagerly awaiting a fresh and competitive spirit from their Pelicans this season.
