Sanjeeda Shaikh joins Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna in Netflix’s action thriller Ikka

Actress Sanjeeda Shaikh has been roped in to join Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna for the much-awaited Netflix action thriller Ikka. Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, renowned for helming films like We Are Family, Hichki, and Maharaj, this project marks a notable addition to her growing filmography and promises to be one of the year’s most exciting OTT releases. Ikka stands out as an original script in the OTT landscape, with both Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna leading in parallel roles-a pairing that reunites the actors 28 years after their iconic collaboration in Border (1997). Early speculations suggested the film was a remake of the Hollywood vigilante thriller Death Sentence. However, later reports suggested that both Deol and Malhotra vetoed the idea, opting instead for a fresh, unconventional story. Netflix has been quick to invest in this large-scale actioner, tapping into star power while promising new-age storytelling. Sanjeeda Shaikh joins the cast at a moment when both her co-stars are capturing headlines for their work and personal lives. Sunny Deol, last seen in the theatrical release Jaat, is also preparing for Border 2 and Lahore 1947, while currently spending time with his father Dharmendra, after a recent health scare. Meanwhile, Akshaye Khanna, whose last film was Chhaava where he played Aurangzeb, is set to return to the big screen in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar, set for a December 5, 2025 release, alongside Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal; he also has Mahakali lined up in the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe. Sanjeeda’s own work front remains impressive, with her latest project, Heeramandi, having been released on Netflix in 2024 to positive reception. Violinist Stefan Jackiw Joins Robert McDuffie Center for Strings

By Diana Skinner: It’s a match made in heaven, as far as I’m concerned. My two favorite violinists are joining forces to further expand what could be the most exciting string academy ever. It was just announced that internationally acclaimed violinist Stefan Jackiw will join the faculty of the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University’s School of Music in Macon, Georgia. I find this match exciting on many levels. I’ve admired violinist Robert McDuffie for decades not just for his consummate artistry, but also for the way he’s constructed an unconventional career that many musicians now strive to emulate. His schedule involves concertizing, running a festival in Rome, teaching in Aspen, performing with rock legends, and being heavily involved with the string academy he founded in his hometown. I was fortunate to hear McDuffie perform Bernstein’s Serenade, after Plato’s Symposium at Brevard a few years ago and it ranks amongst my list of top live performances. My experience with Jackiw began during the pandemic as an observer in his free online masterclasses. His ability to combine masterful pedagogy with an accessible, comfortable, humble style was remarkable. I was also fortunate to hear Jackiw live in Knoxville playing Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy, a performance that, to my ears, exemplified the distinction between a great violinist and a great artist. So it’s strangely validating, and tremendously exciting, to see the partnership between these two violin titans emerge. With Jackiw’s arrival at the McDuffie Center, McDuffie will transition to mentoring and coaching. In addition to Jackiw, the McDuffie Center’s faculty boasts David Kim, concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra, who focuses on orchestral playing with all the McDuffie Center students, as well as Amy Schwartz Moretti, who serves as the McDuffie Center’s Artistic Director and violin pedagogue. The McDuffie Center’s tagline preparing the exceptional musician to thrive in the real world is brought to life by combining an intensive, conservatory experience with the practicality of a hybrid curriculum that takes into account music, liberal arts, and business. Final words on snagging Jackiw belong to McDuffie, who so eloquently said, “It’s a privilege and a joy to welcome Stefan to the McDuffie Center family. He’s not only one of the world’s greatest violinists, he’s an insightful and profound teacher, as well. He and Amy will make a powerful team, and our violin students will be the fortunate beneficiaries.”I could not agree more. Cynthia von Buhler Discusses MINKY WOODCOCK: THE GIRL CALLED CTHULHU

Eric McClanahan chats with author/playwright/artist Cynthia von Buhler about her latest graphic novel collection, MINKY WOODCOCK: THE GIRL CALLED CTHULHU. Read the full article on AICN “Do What Thou Wilt Shall be the Whole of the Law.” I look forward to New York Comic Con every year. As a steady worker who rarely finds time for vacation, this is often the closest I get to relaxing over the past several years. I’ve been leaning more into unconventional invitations over the past few years, like sneaking off to see the stage show ‘The Shark is Broken,’ interviewing Max Brooks about Minecraft books, or speaking with David Dastmalchian about his newest graphic novel. I delight when I get an invitation that piques my interest for a property that I’d never even heard of before, and I get a few each year. Cynthia Von Buhler’s MINKY WOODCOCK: THE GIRL CALLED CTHULHU is currently available from Hard Case Crime/Titan Comics. I was unfamiliar with the author, the title, and even the imprint when I got an invite to a NYCC afterparty aboard the Frying Pan Boat at Pier 66. An open bar, expansive food spread, and complementary black velvet capes? Of course I said yes. The boat is an actual relic reclaimed from the sea, dredged from the bottom of the ocean and restored into a floating nightclub. The capes had all been claimed by the time I arrived but I enjoyed the gathering all the same. I found Cynthia Von Buhler holding court at the head of the boat, her head bearing horns and her own luxurious cape billowing to the ground. She offered me a reading from a single tarot card.
