The state of Iowa had a mandatory retirement rule: all law enforcement officers must retire at the age of 65. My 30-some police career had suddenly ended. My beautiful bride of many-many years had a stroke. She passed away in 2024. COVID-19 hit and my sister died. Medical expenses were piling up .
