Chicago police officer, Sullivan HS security guard on leave, ‘engaged inappropriately with students’

CHICAGO (WLS) — A Chicago police officer who also worked as a school security guard is now on leave, officials confirmed Friday. The principal of Sullivan High School in Rogers Park sent a letter to families saying he was removed as a part-time security guard last month. ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch He was accused of “engaging inappropriately with students” and is now under investigation by the Office of the Inspector General, school officials said. The impacted students and families have been notified. The Chicago Police Department also confirmed Friday the officer was relieved of police powers last month, but would not confirm why. Chicago Public Schools issued a statement, saying “Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is committed to the safety and well-being of our students and takes seriously all allegations of employee misconduct. CPS investigates and addresses all complaints in accordance with District policies and procedures to foster safe and secure learning environments in all schools. In accordance with privacy laws, the District does not comment on ongoing investigations or personnel matters.” No further information was available.
