Two Polls Reveal Troubling Trends Among American Youth

Recent polls indicate that America’s young people are facing serious emotional and social challenges. Young men are experiencing profound emotional isolation, while many young women harbor deep dissatisfaction with the country—so much so that a significant number express a desire to leave America altogether.
The Polls: Loneliness Among Young Men and Discontent Among Young Women
A Gallup poll released earlier this year shed light on the loneliness epidemic among young men in the United States. According to the survey, American men are the loneliest demographic group. Technology seems to play a role in this trend, as young men spend a disproportionate amount of time playing video games; 62% of teen boys identify as “gamers,” compared to only 17% of teen girls.
This heavy reliance on gaming may be a symptom of deeper issues, contributing to young men’s withdrawal from real-life social interactions.
On the other hand, Gallup recently revealed disturbing statistics about the aspirations of young American women. In 2025, 40% of women aged 15 to 44 said they would move abroad permanently if they had the chance—a figure four times higher than the 10% reported in 2014. This marked increase suggests growing dissatisfaction and frustration among young women regarding their lives in America.
What’s Behind These Trends?
So, what is driving these troubling patterns? While there are multiple factors at play, one theory points to the influence of leftist ideology, particularly feminism. According to this perspective, the adoption of left-leaning beliefs among women has led to widespread disillusionment, while men, left to their own devices, retreat into the isolating world of technology.
Though complex, these developments raise important questions about the social and cultural environment shaping today’s youth.
