**Hospice of the Chesapeake and Partners In Care Join Forces to Support Maryland’s Aging Population**
Hospice of the Chesapeake and Partners In Care of Maryland, Inc. have joined forces to strengthen support for Maryland’s aging population. The two nonprofits are now part of a new umbrella organization, Chesapeake Health Partners, created to expand services that help older adults remain independent, connected, and well-supported through every stage of aging and serious illness.
### New Umbrella Organization Focuses on Aging Population
The incorporation of Partners In Care into Hospice of the Chesapeake’s family of services marks a major step in their shared mission to serve older Marylanders with compassion and dignity. The announcement comes as the state prepares for a sharp rise in its senior population—thousands of Americans turn 65 every day, and by 2030 nearly one in four Maryland residents will be 65 or older.
Becky Miller, President and CEO of Hospice of the Chesapeake, emphasizes the urgency of responding to this demographic shift. “That’s not just a statistic, it’s a call to action,” Miller said. “By coming together, we can ensure that older adults in our community continue to receive the care, support, and connection they need to thrive.”
### Hospice and Community-Based Support Under One Roof
Hospice of the Chesapeake is Maryland’s largest independent nonprofit hospice organization and has long been a resource for patients and families facing serious illness, focusing on comfort, quality of life, and support.
Partners In Care brings a complementary community-based model to the table. The Maryland nonprofit is known for helping older adults remain independent through its Service Exchange program, where members assist one another with transportation, handyman services, social connection, and other everyday needs.
By bringing these programs together under Chesapeake Health Partners, the organizations aim to reach more seniors and caregivers across the region. The collaboration is designed not only to align resources, but also to strengthen and expand services that keep older adults safe at home and engaged in their communities.
“Together, we can build a stronger safety net for older adults, one that keeps people in their homes, connected to their neighbors, and supported through every stage of aging and illness,” said Brian Hahn, Partners In Care of Maryland, Inc., Chair of the Board of Directors.
### Partners In Care Retains Name and Volunteer-Driven Mission
As part of the new structure, Partners In Care of Maryland, Inc., will retain its name, mission, and volunteer-driven programs. Members, volunteers, and staff will see continuity in the services they rely on, while gaining the additional support and infrastructure that comes with being part of Chesapeake Health Partners.
Both organizations emphasize that volunteers and staff remain central to their work. Their roles in providing rides, companionship, in-home support, and end-of-life care will continue to be critical in helping older adults stay active, independent, and connected.
### Building for the Future of Senior Care in Maryland
By combining resources, Hospice of the Chesapeake and Partners In Care plan to innovate and adapt to the growing needs of Maryland’s aging population. The partnership is intended to create a more comprehensive network of hospice, palliative, and community-based services for seniors and their families.
“This is about hope, growth, and community,” Miller said. “We’re honoring our roots while embracing new possibilities. Together as Chesapeake Health Partners, we’re committed to helping Marylanders age safely and independently in their own homes, supported by our expert care, resources, and community connections.”
