The Seattle Seahawks have a pressing need for their new receiver, Rashid Shaheed. The receiver, who arrived Wednesday morning following a trade, is expected to see extensive playing time in his debut. This urgency is due in part to injury concerns affecting the Seahawks’ receiving corps.
Veteran Cooper Kupp is currently questionable with heel and hamstring injuries. Tony Horton is listed as doubtful due to groin and shin issues, while Jake Bobo (calf) and Dareke Young (hip) are both out for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals.
“Just keep attacking it. He’s done a great job so far, and the prep won’t stop until all the way through game time,” said Seahawks staff on Shaheed’s transition.
Shaheed’s integration is made smoother by his familiarity with Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, whom he played under previously in New Orleans. Additionally, Shaheed doesn’t need to master the entire playbook right away. “It’s different because you’re only learning the game-plan plays, so we have a plan for him,” said Coach Macdonald. “But I can’t wait to see him play. He’s done a great job.”
Shaheed brings a valuable deep-threat element to the Seahawks’ offense, forcing opposing defenses to cover every blade of grass. This, in turn, opens up opportunities for other stars like Jaxson Smith-Njigba.
This strategic move highlights the legitimacy of the 6-2 Seahawks as contenders—not just for a playoff berth, but for a potential spot in the Super Bowl.
