Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the launch of the “GST Bachat Utsav,” starting September 22. He described this initiative as a next-generation reform aimed at reducing the cost of daily essentials and boosting consumption-driven economic growth.

In his address to the nation on Sunday, PM Modi emphasized that the new Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates, which take effect from Monday, are designed not only to lower prices but also to create new opportunities across various sectors.

**Economic Impact: GST Reforms to Benefit 99% of Goods**

The Prime Minister revealed that the recent GST reforms will benefit approximately 99% of goods, bringing them under a simplified tax structure with 5% and 18% slabs. This streamlined approach is expected to make common goods more affordable for consumers.

PM Modi highlighted that these changes are set to spur economic growth across industries, agriculture, and services by enhancing purchasing power and lowering costs.

**Focus on the Public: Double Benefits for Poor and Neo-Middle Class**

Addressing the public welfare aspect, the Prime Minister said the reforms have been prioritized for the common good. He particularly underscored the “double bonanza” that poor and neo-middle-class families will enjoy due to these GST cuts.

“When the purchasing power of people rises, it benefits every sector, from industry to agriculture to services. This is a reform that will touch every household,” PM Modi remarked.

**Political Response: Congress Questions PM on Other Issues**

Earlier, the Congress party had questioned whether PM Modi would comment on former President Trump’s remarks concerning India-Pakistan relations and H-1B visa holders. However, the Prime Minister focused his address solely on the benefits of the GST rate cuts and the government’s broader economic roadmap.

The GST rate reductions were initially announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman earlier this month, marking the most significant indirect tax reform since July 2017.

Stay tuned for updates on the “GST Bachat Utsav” and how these reforms will impact consumers and businesses nationwide.
