Donegal gardaí seize 14 dogs found in ‘shocking conditions’

Gardai in Co Donegal have seized 14 dogs after finding them in “shocking conditions” during a search at a property in West Donegal.

The operation was carried out by Gardai from Glenties Garda Station on Friday, following concerns raised under the Animal Health & Welfare Act.

Upon arrival, Gardai discovered the dogs confined to rusted crates and living in their own filth. The animals, all small breeds, were found in a severely dirty and ungroomed state.

Images from the rescue illustrate the poor conditions in which the dogs were kept, highlighting the urgency of the intervention.

Gardai confirmed they are currently working closely with the ISPCA to provide the necessary care and support for the dogs.

A spokesperson stated that all the dogs are now receiving essential veterinary attention and will subsequently be transferred to the care of the ISPCA.

Investigations into the circumstances of the case are ongoing, according to a Garda spokesperson.
