Giants’ Russell Wilson Blasts Broncos’ Sean Payton As ‘Classless’ To Give Us High-Profile NFL Beef

We’ve got a good ol’ fashioned battle of the champions right here!

When it came to drama, Sunday’s game between the New York Giants and Denver Broncos took the cake in Week 7. The highlight? The Broncos scoring a whopping 33 points in the fourth quarter to pull off an unbelievable 33-32 comeback win.

At the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Broncos were facing a daunting 19-0 deficit. With under six minutes remaining, they were still trailing 26-8. But their incredible late surge changed everything.

Following the contest, Broncos head coach Sean Payton appeared to take a subtle shot at his ex-quarterback, Russell Wilson, who now plays for the Giants. Making a reference to New York’s new starter, Jaxon Dart, Payton revealed he had spoken with Giants owner John Mara, expressing hope that the franchise would consider making a quarterback change after the game against Denver.

Fast forward to Tuesday, and Russell Wilson fired back. Referencing “Bountygate” — the investigation into allegations that the New Orleans Saints offered bounties to players, which led to Payton’s suspension for the entire 2012 season — Wilson had a pointed response for his former head coach.

Needless to say, this rivalry off the field is just as entertaining as the one on it.
