More Visible and Credible, NATO Debuts Eastern Sentry After Russian Drone Incursions
In response to recent Russian incursions involving drones, NATO has launched Operation Eastern Sentry, a strategic framework designed to enhance the alliance’s defensive capabilities. This initiative enables commanders to rapidly deploy fighters, sensors, and ground-based air defense systems across the eastern front.
As part of this effort, Norway’s Air Force F-16 fighters and Italy’s Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon jets have been actively patrolling the Baltic region. These aircraft operate from Zokniai Air Base near Šiauliai, Lithuania, conducting NATO air policing missions to maintain regional security.
