Iran’s government has confirmed that it is beginning the process of selecting a new supreme leader following the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during Saturday’s attack.
This selection process was established in 1979 when Iran’s theocratic government was founded. Since then, it has been used only once.
CBS News’ Lindsey Reiser provides further explanation on the procedure and its significance.
