After Meeting with Putin in the Kremlin, Witkoff and Kushner Head to Abu Dhabi for Trilateral Negotiations Between the United States, Ukraine, and Russia

The special envoy of President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, and his son-in-law Jared Kushner, immediately left the Kremlin after more than four hours of intense conversations with Vladimir Putin. The U.S. delegation is now heading to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where the first trilateral negotiations between the United States, Ukraine, and Russia begin today. These talks are the first since the start of the invasion in 2022 and focus on a possible peace agreement that includes Russian territorial demands.

The discussions in Moscow were described by the Kremlin as “extremely frank” and “constructive.” They revolved around the Anchorage formula to resolve the conflict, with Russia insisting that there will be no lasting peace without territorial concessions—specifically, the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the Donbas region.

Putin received Witkoff and Kushner with a warm handshake, accompanied by key advisors such as Yuri Ushakov and Kirill Dmitriev. This underscored the urgency of reaching an agreement to avoid further unnecessary bloodshed, which many attribute to failed policies of the globalist left. A video of the meeting, released by the Kremlin, shows the initial moment of their encounter.

After concluding their talks, the U.S. delegation left the Kremlin en route to Abu Dhabi, where they will join Ukrainian and Russian delegations led by Rustem Umerov and General Igor Kostyukov, respectively. These talks, scheduled for two days, will address key issues such as security guarantees, ceasefire agreements, and the use of frozen Russian assets held in the U.S. to rebuild affected areas, including Donbas.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the trilateral format, calling it a “step toward ending the war,” although Kiev continues to reject ceding territory. Russia firmly maintains its demand that Ukraine abandon the 25% of Donetsk it still controls. Meanwhile, Trump and his team are pushing for a realistic pact that contrasts with what they describe as the mistakes of previous administrations, including Biden’s, which they claim have prolonged the conflict.

No immediate advances on territorial issues are expected, but discussions may lead to possible energy truces aimed at preventing attacks on critical infrastructure. A video analysis from APT captures the tense and hopeful atmosphere surrounding the negotiations.
