Dai Dai Ames scores 21 and California defeats Columbia 74-56

Dai Dai Ames led the way with 21 points as California secured a 74-56 victory over Columbia. John Camden contributed 15 points and Chris Bell added 12 for the Golden Bears, while Lee Dort dominated the boards with 14 rebounds.

Cal excelled at the free-throw line, making 19 of 24 attempts. Ames was particularly efficient, going 6 for 7 from the charity stripe. The Golden Bears started strong with a 13-0 run in the first half, building a 28-16 lead by halftime.

Despite Columbia outshooting Cal 25.9% to 25% in the opening half, Ames still managed to score 12 points. Both teams improved their shooting significantly in the second half, with Cal hitting 64% from the field and Columbia close behind at 57%.
