Valve reveals new Steam Controller

It’s a big day for Valve as the company has revealed two new gaming devices: the Steam Machine and the Steam Frame. Alongside this new hardware lineup, Valve has also introduced an updated version of the Steam Controller, designed to offer full compatibility with the company’s other products.

The new Steam Controller features an ABXY button layout, a d-pad, and symmetrical analog sticks. Notably, the trackpads have been redesigned as curved squares and repositioned below the analog sticks. This updated layout brings the controller’s design much closer to that of the Steam Deck, a move Valve says was intentional.

Players will be able to use the Steam Controller to play games on the Steam Deck, as well as on the newly unveiled Steam Machine and Steam Frame. The controller includes a wired puck that acts as a transmitter, allowing it to wirelessly connect to a PC or other devices. Additionally, the controller can be magnetically attached to the puck for convenient charging.

For further versatility, the Steam Controller also supports Bluetooth and USB connections, ensuring seamless compatibility across multiple gaming platforms.
