Hawaii women’s swimmer Zofia Tyminska won her third meet event and UH men’s competitor Finn Brophy set a school record in the 100-yard freestyle during the final day of the SMU Invitational on Saturday in Dallas. Tyminska won the 200 individual medley in 1: 58. 39. She also captured the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke at the four-day event. UH’s Lovisa Gustavsson won the women’s platform diving event with a score of 254. 25 points. Brophy’s record-setting time of 42. 26 in the 100 freestyle was good for second place. UH’s Juan Esteban Ramirez Tamayo finished second in the men’s platform diving (353. 55), and UH got third-place finishes from Macie Wheeler (women’s platform diving, 201. 25), the women’s 400 freestyle relay team (3: 17. 81) and the men’s 400 freestyle relay team (2: 51. 44). CS Dominguez Hills men hold off UH Hilo Josiah Sanders finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and DaSean Stevens scored 13 points as the California State Dominguez Hills men’s basketball team held off Hawaii Hilo 61-57 at the Southwest Airlines Big Island Invitational on Saturday at Vulcan Gymnasium. The Toros (2-2) led 37-14 with 2: 39 remaining in the first half. The Vulcans’ Julio Montes II missed a game-tying 3-pointer with seven seconds remaining, and Stevens made 1-of-2 free throws for the final margin. Jamal Entezami scored 17 points and Alex Horiuk had 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Vulcans (0-3). UC Merced women rally past Chaminade Mariah Flores scored 18 points and Sarina Nagra added 16 as the UC Merced women’s basketball team rallied past Chaminade 66-60 on Saturday at McCabe Gym. Holly Dolny scored 17 points, and Alyssa Schuetze added eight points and 11 rebounds, and Maddy Weaver had nine points and 10 rebounds for the Silverswords (0-3). The Bobcats (3-1) outscored the Silverswords 38-21 in the second half.
