**Trump Warns Nigeria: US ‘Guns-a-Blazing’ if Christian Killings Continue**

President Donald Trump on Saturday announced that he has ordered the Pentagon to begin planning potential military action in Nigeria. The move comes as he intensified his criticism of the Nigerian government, accusing it of failing to stop the persecution of Christians in the West African nation.
“If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities,” Trump wrote on social media.
“I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians!”
This warning came shortly after Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu responded to Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” for allegedly failing to curb the persecution of Christians. In a statement on social media, Tinubu rejected the characterization.
“The characterization of Nigeria as a religiously intolerant country does not reflect the national reality,” Tinubu said. “Religious freedom and tolerance have been a core tenet of our collective identity and shall always remain so. Nigeria opposes religious persecution and does not encourage it. Nigeria is a country with constitutional guarantees to protect citizens of all faiths.”
Trump’s comments on Friday underscored his view that “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria” and that “radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter.”
His remarks follow recent calls by Senator Ted Cruz for Congress to officially designate Nigeria as a violator of religious freedom, highlighting what Cruz described as “Christian mass murder” in the country.
