The AA makes big change to its breakdown cover for some UK vehicles

The AA has launched a new breakdown cover for electric vehicles, which includes roadside repair or recovery to a charging point As electric vehicles (EVs) become a more familiar sight on UK roads, The AA has stepped up to support EV drivers. As the UK’s long-standing breakdown provider with nationwide patrol coverage, The AA now provides cover for electric vehicles. The AA’s proficiency in handling electric vehicle breakdowns means EV users can rely on them for roadside repair or recovery to a charging point. Key benefits of The AA breakdown cover for electric vehicles include quick and convenient reporting through The AA’s app, where logging a breakdown takes less than three and half minutes, according to the brand. The app also offers real-time tracking, showing users’ exact location and allowing them to track their patrol’s arrival. With smart technology and expertly trained patrols, The AA claims it fixes four out of five breakdowns at the roadside. The company’s cover extends to all electric and hybrid vehicles at no extra cost. If an EV breaks down, their patrols will attempt roadside repairs and if unsuccessful, the vehicle will be transported to a local garage or charging point, reports Nottinghamshire Live. Customers can tailor their cover with options such as At Home or National Recovery. They also cover four types to suit different needs: single personal cover, which is for the individual or passenger; joint personal cover for one person plus someone they live with; family cover for one person and up to three people in their household; and vehicle cover for a single vehicle, no matter who is driving. Not only can shoppers insure their EV with The AA, but also these other brands such as the RAC. This brand offers basic cover, which includes 24/7 roadside assistance, five callouts a year and recovery up to 10 miles; standard cover which is the same, plus national recovery, meaning if they can’t fix the car, they will take people anywhere in the UK; and lastly extra, which has all of the above, plus unlimited call-outs and home cover. Vehicle owners can also get a quote from AXA, which offers three levels of cover to choose from, with an additional Home Start option if people break down at home. They also have a 24/7 rescue line and an e-Rescue online breakdown tool.
