The developers at Paradox Interactive keep the content flowing, consistently adding new layers to the game.
The latest expansion, *Shadow of the Shroud*, introduces all-new paths, storylines, and options centered around psychic civilizations. I had the chance to speak with Paradox Interactive’s Managing Content Design Lead, Chad Ingles, to learn more about what’s next for Stellaris.
Psychic elements have been part of Stellaris for some time, but *Shadow of the Shroud* offers an expanded approach to psionic progression along with several new endgame possibilities. Players can use their psychic powers to become wardens of psychic energy, uncover the mysteries of the cosmic entity known as the Shroud, and restore balance to the galaxy’s psychic order. Alternatively, players might embrace nihilism and harness the Shroud’s power to bring about the ultimate end of the galaxy.
Beyond these exciting narratives, the expansion also offers a variety of new perks, traits, and stories waiting to be explored by the community.
Looking ahead, Paradox Interactive has already revealed what’s coming next: the *Infernals* expansion. This upcoming addition will introduce species adapted to volcanic planets, complete with new traits and unique gameplay mechanics tailored for sentient beings thriving near lava.
Maintaining and improving Stellaris based on player feedback is a key part of the development process. The team wants fans to know that their voices are heard, and they are committed to keeping the game running smoothly by addressing what works and what doesn’t as players share their experiences.
