Phillies Star Projected To Sign 4-Year, $85 Million Deal With Blue Jays

The Philadelphia Phillies are seemingly content with letting free agent pitcher Ranger Suárez sign with a new team this winter. The Phillies have a handful of star pitchers on their roster already. Andrew Painter is one of the best prospects in baseball, and he could be ready for the big leagues by opening day. As a result, the Phillies are unlikely to spend big money to retain Suárez. But where could the lefty sign? Bailey Bassett of ClutchPoints recently projected Suárez would sign a huge four-year, $85 million deal this winter while suggesting the Toronto Blue Jays would be the best fit for the star. “The Philadelphia Phillies have a lot of impending free agents. A handful of them will surely bolt in free agency. Ranger Suarez might not be an ace, but he is a really good second or third starting pitcher,” Bassett wrote. “If the Blue Jays are willing to pay Bichette, they need to also add the pieces that can get them over the hump and past the Dodgers. Los Angeles clearly had the better rotation in the World Series, but adding Suarez would help change that.” The Blue Jays are one of the best teams in the league, but they need to add to the pitching staff. They’re likely going to target Bo Bichette in free agency, but they could look to add Suárez alongside him. Having the lefty at the top of their rotation would help the team get back to the World Series in the next few years. He has ace potential when he’s firing on all cylinders.
