Philadelphia Eagles express interest in hosting Norfolk State-Delaware State matchup again

**Philadelphia Eagles Eager to Host Annual MEAC Clash Following Historic Coaching Matchup**

After hosting the historic coaching showdown between Michael Vick and DeSean Jackson, the Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly eager to make the MEAC Classic an annual event at Lincoln Financial Field. According to a report from the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Eagles are fully committed to continuing the tradition after the immense success and popularity of last week’s game.

“The Philadelphia Eagles have shared that they look forward to the possibility of hosting another HBCU Classic in light of the success and popularity that last week’s game garnered at Lincoln Financial Field,” the team stated in an exclusive quote provided to the Inquirer.

Delaware State University President Tony Allen has been at the forefront of discussions surrounding the event. The decision to host the game at Lincoln Financial Field largely stemmed from Delaware State being the home team for this year’s matchup. President Allen recognized that Delaware State’s Alumni Stadium would not accommodate the large crowd interested in witnessing this historic game.

“We all kind of agreed that if we filled that first bowl at the bottom of the stadium, which was somewhere [around] 28,000 people, that would be significant success for us,” Allen shared with the Inquirer. “So to land at 47,266 [people], with a college fair and a step show and a career fair, folks from across the HBCU ecosystem—this was beyond what we expected.”

The game’s tremendous turnout also translated into significant financial success. Correspondent Loren Lorosa reported that the event generated over $1 million in ticket revenue. “I spoke to President Tony Allen, who’s the president of Delaware State, last night, and he said, and we talked about it this morning, that the total attendance ended up being 47,266 people per tickets sold,” Lorosa noted. “They made north of a million dollars last night, although they were still calculating total revenue as I spoke to them. All of that money goes directly to the schools. They will be looking out for Norfolk State as well.”

This financial achievement was the result of months of dedicated planning, which began once Jackson first voiced his interest in hosting the event. On his podcast, *The 25/10 Show with LeSean “Shady” McCoy*, Jackson expressed his desire to see the inaugural coaching matchup between him and Vick take place in a prominent venue like Lincoln Financial Field.

“But it’s crazy because we play them November 1st. I’m trying to get that game at The Linc,” Jackson said, highlighting his vision for the event.

The game attracted massive attention not only from fans nationwide but also from celebrities such as Cam Newton and Meek Mill, further amplifying its impact and visibility.

Given the enthusiasm and strong prospects for both competing teams in the coming years, establishing the MEAC Classic as an annual tradition promises to be an excellent move to build on the success of this first edition. The Philadelphia Eagles and the HBCU community alike appear excited to see what the future holds for this newly christened celebration of football, culture, and community.
