**Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – Mysteria Ecclesiae DLC Impressions**
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is one of those rare games that feels like it’s been part of the gaming landscape for years. In reality—and somewhat surprisingly—Warhorse Studios’ Bohemia-based role-playing epic was released in February of this year. Our own Sam Chandler gave the game a glowing review, and since then, it has been followed up by two excellent DLCs of differing scale and scope.
**A Strong DLC Track Record**
The first DLC, *Brushes with Death*, offered a heartfelt story quest, while *Legacy of the Forge* introduced a new home and business for Henry, allowing him to follow in his father’s footsteps as a blacksmith. Each expansion has only solidified the game’s place in the Game of the Year conversation. Now we have the final DLC, *Mysteria Ecclesiae*, set to be the cherry on top of an already wonderful experience. But does this latest chapter keep up the high standards?
**A Deadly Mystery Unfolds**
In *Mysteria Ecclesiae*, Henry is pulled into a dangerous mystery like nothing he’s faced before. Tasked with assisting King Wenceslaus’ physician, Albich, Henry travels to the monastery at Sedletz. Upon arrival, they discover that a mysterious illness has struck the monastery, leading everyone to fear an outbreak of plague. While Albich and others tend to the sick, Henry must explore the monastery, interact with its denizens, and uncover the secrets and sins lurking within its walls.
**A New Map and Unique Setting**
The DLC takes place on a brand-new map dedicated to Sedletz monastery. Once you begin, you won’t be able to return to the main map until the adventure concludes. The stakes are raised immediately: your armor and weapons are confiscated upon arrival, mainly because King Sigismund of Luxembourg is currently residing in the monastery. Nearly every resource Henry has relied upon is now scarce.
The design of the monastery is outstanding. As fans have come to expect from the series, the setting feels genuine and immersive. The massive chapel dominates the landscape, with ample space for monks to sleep, eat, and pray, plus grounds to grow food. Vast cellars run beneath the monastery, ripe for exploration, offering secret nooks and crannies that beg to be uncovered.
**A Cast of Complex Characters**
The real heart of *Mysteria Ecclesiae* lies in its new cast of characters. Conversations are plentiful and meaningful—often heartfelt and sometimes unexpectedly funny. Henry shines once again as the protagonist, with ample opportunities to grow his character, explore branching dialogue options, and embody a thoughtful, caring human being.
Quests and side quests delve into the daily lives of the monastery’s residents, often giving players the chance to show genuine compassion in a rigid social structure that lacks it. Gaining the trust of these characters is rewarding, but playing Henry in a way that makes you worthy of that trust elevates the experience further.
**New Tools, Items, and Skills**
This DLC isn’t just about story—a wealth of new gameplay additions await. Discover a new sword, fresh armor pieces, and a unique mask. Brew new alchemical potions, hunt for skill books hidden around the monastery, and unlock plenty you can bring back to the main game. There’s plenty to see and do, offering even more reason to dive in.
**A Fitting Farewell—For Now**
*Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – Mysteria Ecclesiae* is a fitting final installment in Henry’s journey, packed with meaningful choices, fun new content, and plenty of mystery. Even better, it can be played at any point during your run through the main game. Once again, Henry proves himself one of gaming’s most compelling protagonists—a humble man eager to see more of the world, yet always hoping for the best for those around him.
The only downside? This is the end of the road for *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*. Now, all we can do is wait and hope that Warhorse Studios brings us a third installment with the same level of heart, intrigue, and fun.
