Kia previews next-gen Telluride SUV as ‘new benchmark’ for brand

DETROIT — Kia on Monday unveiled a preview of its next-generation Telluride SUV, which the company describes as a “new benchmark for the brand’s design and ambition.”

Since its launch in 2019, the first-generation Telluride has been a standout success for the South Korean automaker, frequently ranking as one of the most in-demand vehicles in the U.S. based on inventory levels. It remains a crucial model for Kia’s presence in the American market.

The 2027 Telluride, expected to arrive in U.S. showrooms during the first quarter, features a larger, boxier, and more modern design compared to the current model. The new front end boasts a sizeable grille framed by vertical headlamps, while the rear showcases a sleek design and silhouette reminiscent of a Range Rover.

On Monday, Kia released images of the Telluride X-Pro model ahead of the three-row midsize SUV’s official debut later this month at the Los Angeles Auto Show. More trims and detailed information will be unveiled at the event.

Sales of the Telluride have steadily increased every year since its introduction in 2019. Kia has sold more than 444,000 units to date, with sales up 11% year-to-date through October, according to the company.

Currently, Kia offers the Telluride in 10 trim levels, with starting prices ranging from $36,000 to $54,000. For comparison, the Hyundai Palisade—a sibling vehicle to the Telluride—released its new version earlier this year, with pricing starting between $39,000 and $55,000, depending on the trim.
