SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Jimmy Butler led the Golden State Warriors with 21 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists as the team defeated the short-handed Indiana Pacers 114-83 on Sunday night. Quinten Post contributed 14 points and seven rebounds, while Al Horford added 12 points and four rebounds off the bench.
Stephen Curry missed his third straight game due to a bad cold and was listed as questionable with an illness. He was scheduled to undergo workouts on Sunday and Monday before traveling with the team, hoping to return Tuesday at Oklahoma City.
Golden State pulled away down the stretch with a 13-0 run spanning the third and fourth quarters, followed by a 21-7 surge. Andrew Nembhard led Indiana with 14 points and distributed four of his nine assists during the second quarter.
The Pacers were without power forward Pascal Siakam, who rested for the second game of a tough road back-to-back, and forward Aaron Nesmith, who missed the game after bruising his right forearm while going for a rebound in Saturday’s 117-100 loss at Denver. Nesmith had scored a career-best 31 points on 10-for-19 shooting in the earlier matchup against the Warriors.
Golden State improved to 5-0 at home, snapping a streak of six consecutive home losses to Indiana — the last remaining team yet to lose in the Warriors’ seventh-year Chase Center. The Warriors’ last home victory over the Pacers came on March 21, 2019, at Oracle Arena.
Indiana had won four straight matchups in the series overall, including a 114-109 home win on November 1. Midway through the second quarter, Isaiah Jackson had a foul upgraded to a Flagrant 1 against Brandin Podziemski, who finished with 14 points and six rebounds.
The Pacers missed their first eight three-point attempts before Monte Morris connected at the 1:49 mark of the opening period.
