Jets Rejected Chiefs’ Breece Hall Offer Before NFL Trade Deadline: Report

The New York Jets were very active on Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, sending away two franchise stars in exchange for future draft capital as the struggling organization looks toward a rebuild. Two-time All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner was shipped to the Indianapolis Colts, while three-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman Quinnen Williams was sent to the Dallas Cowboys in a blockbuster trade.

Leading up to this year’s Nov. 4 deadline, the Jets featured several more notable trade targets, including fourth-year running back Breece Hall. The Kansas City Chiefs were consistently identified as one of the top landing spots for Hall in trade discussions around the league. Although the reigning AFC champions failed to add a running back before the deadline, it wasn’t for a lack of trying.

According to New York insider Connor Hughes of SNY, the Chiefs offered the Jets a fourth-round pick in exchange for Hall. “With Breece Hall, there was an offer on the table for a fourth-round pick. I was told it was from the Kansas City Chiefs, who were willing to trade for Breece Hall. The Jets were steadfast in wanting a third,” Hughes reported after the deadline.

The Jets also reportedly turned down a second-round pick offer for defensive end Jermaine Johnson, further signaling their desire to maximize returns as they reshape their roster.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs have struggled to find consistent production at running back this season. No running back on the team has rushed for more than 60 yards in a single game so far. Isiah Pacheco, who missed Kansas City’s Week 9 loss to the Buffalo Bills with an MCL sprain, leads the team with just 329 rushing yards.

Veteran RB Kareem Hunt has accumulated 294 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns through nine games this season. Due to the lack of ground game production, a heavy load has fallen on quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who ranks third on the team with 285 rushing yards.

Rookie running back Brashard Smith has struggled to find his footing, recording just 82 yards on 28 carries.

As for Breece Hall, he has 581 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, and 178 receiving yards through eight games with the struggling New York offense. Hall showcased his best performance of the year in a Week 8 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, rushing for 133 yards and two touchdowns.

With the Jets focused on rebuilding and the Chiefs searching for a stable running back option, the drama around Breece Hall’s future remains a talking point as the NFL season progresses.
