Jensen Huang says that ‘without TSMC, there is no NVIDIA’

It’s safe to say that much of the world’s semiconductors run on designs built by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC). At the last estimate, TSMC was said to constitute about 64 percent of the world’s contract chip manufacturing. These designs also power many of the AI technology breakthroughs developed by NVIDIA.

Given this close relationship, it might come as little surprise that NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang had nothing but praise for TSMC during its recent company Sport Day. In fact, Huang went as far as to say that NVIDIA wouldn’t exist without TSMC.

Huang made these comments during the recent TSMC Sport Day, as reported by online news outlet Focus Taiwan. This past weekend, Huang attended TSMC’s Sports Day at a stadium in Taiwan. During the event, he reflected on TSMC’s role in NVIDIA’s history and its impact on technology worldwide, saying:

> “Without TSMC, there is no Nvidia today. You are really the pride of Taiwan, you are also the pride of the world. Thank you for helping me build Nvidia.”

NVIDIA and TSMC have been collaborating for close to 30 years. Over the decades, NVIDIA has utilized the technological breakthroughs that TSMC has pioneered in its own products—most recently in NVIDIA’s cutting-edge Blackwell AI chips.

With such a longstanding history and significant success together, it’s clear that Huang has a strong interest in maintaining friendly relations with TSMC. Especially now, as TSMC and the Taiwan region navigate complex issues related to trade and exports with the United States government, this partnership remains more important than ever in shaping the future of global technology.
