San Diego State (8-2, 5-1) took partial possession of first place with two games remaining and improved to 6-5 all time against Boise State (6-4, 4-2). Both schools are set to join a revamped Pacific-12 Conference next season.

However, Denegal quickly answered back with an 8-yard touchdown run with 70 seconds left in the half, putting San Diego State ahead 14-7 at halftime.
The only score of the second half was a 47-yard field goal from Gabriel Plascencia with 10:51 remaining, sealing the Aztecs’ 17-7 win.
San Diego State’s offense was paced by Lucky Sutton, who rushed for 150 yards on 25 carries. Denegal contributed both on the ground and through the air, completing 6 of 10 passes for 17 yards and carrying five times for an additional 16 yards.
