Dominik Mysterio is one of the top stars in the world of professional wrestling. Recently, he made a shocking confession about his career that has caught the attention of fans and insiders alike.
Since joining Judgment Day, Dominik Mysterio has elevated his in-ring performance to a whole new level. Currently considered one of the best heels in the business, Dom has successfully broken free from the shadow of his legendary father, Rey Mysterio. His impressive growth has put him on track to become a future World Champion, earning praise from several industry veterans.
However, Dominik almost didn’t pursue wrestling at all.
During a recent interview with WWE on its YouTube channel, Dominik revealed that he initially hesitated to leave his wife for six months to train in wrestling. He shared, “I was around 260 pounds. Just lost. My wife now, girlfriend at the time, she knew it, and I told her, ‘There’s this opportunity, I might go and train in Tampa for six months, but I don’t really wanna do it. I don’t wanna leave.’ I just remember I started crying, just f**king balling up. She looks at me and she’s like, ‘Dom, you have to go. You’ve gotta do this.’”

Dominik also reflected on his early involvement in one of WWE’s most memorable storylines — the feud between Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero. The angle revolved around the shocking claim that Eddie Guerrero was Dominik’s biological father. This storyline culminated in a dramatic ladder match at SummerSlam 2005, where the two battled for custody of Dominik.
During the match, Eddie was close to victory when Dominik entered the ring and tried to push him off the ladder. Speaking about that intense moment in the recent interview, Dominik shared how scared he felt due to Eddie’s intensity: “I look up and there’s Eddie standing over me just waving his finger. Fear is the only thing in my mind and just cause of his intensity, man. And now, seeing it as a wrestler and being a performer and I’m like, ‘He was so good.’”
Dominik’s journey, from emotional doubt to the confidence of a rising star, continues to inspire fans around the world.
Looking ahead, Dominik Mysterio is set to face off against John Cena for the Intercontinental Championship at Survivor Series: WarGames 2025, promising another thrilling chapter in his evolving career.
