FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — Jake Heidbreder scored 24 points to lead Fresno State to an 82-62 victory over Long Beach State on Saturday.
Heidbreder shot 8 of 13 from the field, including 2 for 5 from beyond the arc, and was flawless from the free-throw line, going 6 for 6 for the Bulldogs (2-1).
Wilson Jacques contributed a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Zaon Collins added 12 points, shooting 4 of 7 from the field and 4 for 7 from the free-throw line.
For Long Beach State (0-2), Gavin Sykes led the team in scoring with 11 points. Isaiah Lewis and Rob Diaz III each chipped in 10 points apiece.
Fresno State took the lead for good with 6:32 remaining in the first half. At halftime, the Bulldogs held a 28-20 advantage, fueled by Heidbreder’s eight points. He continued his strong performance in the second half, scoring a team-high 16 points.
