California Governor Gavin Newsom is currently in Brazil attending the United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP30. During this week-long event, Newsom is promoting California’s clean air initiatives while openly criticizing the Trump administration’s lack of engagement on climate issues.

On Monday in São Paulo, speaking at the Milken Institute’s Global Investors Symposium, Newsom sharply criticized the Trump administration, pointing out that it had not sent even “a note-taker” to the conference. His remarks highlight a growing divide between California’s proactive stance on climate change and the federal administration’s approach.

One user shared their thoughts:
“I feel bad for Newsom’s kids. Not because of ‘climate change,’ but because they’re HIS kids. That’s gotta be traumatic for them. On the other hand, I VOTED for President Trump to stay away completely from the ‘climate conference,’ so good deal!”

Another commenter, Nervous Tick from Hope, added:
“As a righteous product of properly aligned Faith, I believe HOPE IS in fact a strategy.”
