Notable Players on IR, PUP, Suspension, etc.
Philadelphia Eagles
WR Johnny Wilson (IR, knee/ankle, out for the season): Wilson is a massive receiver at 6’6″, 228 lbs who carved out a dirty work role as a physical blocker during his rookie season in 2024. However, he was sometimes a little too aggressive, committing four penalties (3 holding, 1 OPI). As a receiver, Wilson caught only 5 passes for 38 yards and a touchdown. He played just over 400 snaps and actually started four games.
EDGE Ogbo Okoronkwo (IR, triceps, eligible to come off IR at any time, season could be over): Okoronkwo was signed to provide edge depth but played in just one game (4 snaps) before tearing his triceps.
FB Ben VanSumeren (IR, knee, out for the season): VanSumeren was poised to take on a bigger role as a full-time fullback for the Eagles in 2025. Unfortunately, he tore his patellar tendon on the opening kickoff of the season, ending his year prematurely.
LS Charley Hughlett (IR, eligible to come off IR at any time): Known for his unique ability to snap the ball by throwing it through his legs, Hughlett is currently on IR. The Eagles signed Cal Adomitis to replicate this specialized skill in his absence.
Wednesday Injury Notes
- Sewell, Hutchinson, and LaPorta’s injuries are new updates. Sewell left the Lions’ last game against the Commanders with an ankle injury but returned. Hutchinson played 50 of 54 snaps—both are likely fine. LaPorta’s status is more uncertain and will become clearer depending on Thursday practice availability.
- Joseph last played in Week 6 against the Chiefs and continues to miss practices.
- Reed, a starting cornerback who signed a three-year, $48 million deal this offseason, suffered a hamstring injury in Week 4 versus the Browns and was placed on IR. He recorded 16 tackles, 1 interception, and 4 passes broken up in 4 games this season. With Reed out, Lions starters have been Terrion Arnold, Amik Robertson, and slot CB Arthur Maulet. Reed’s 21-day practice window opened this week, but Arnold missed Wednesday’s practice due to a concussion, possibly leaving the secondary thin.
- Davenport began the season as a starter but landed on IR with a pectoral strain. Lions coach Dan Campbell recently stated Davenport could return around late November. His 21-day practice window also opened this week.
Detroit Lions
LG Christian Mahogany (IR, eligible to return after Week 13): Mahogany, the Lions’ starting left guard, was placed on IR last week with a knee injury. Former Eagle Kayode Awosika filled in as starter in Week 10 against the Commanders. The Lions also lost center Frank Ragnow to retirement this offseason.
CB D.J. Reed (IR, hamstring, 21-day practice window opened): As noted above, Reed is recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in Week 4.
EDGE Marcus Davenport (IR, pectoral, 21-day practice window opened): Davenport’s status correlates with the update above regarding his pectoral strain and potential late November return.
iDL Levi Onwuzurike (PUP, season over): Onwuzurike underwent ACL surgery during the summer and is out for the season. While his production hasn’t been standout (3.5 sacks in 2024), he was a starter on the defensive line.
DL Josh Paschal (NFI, 21-day practice window opened last week): Paschal had back surgery in the offseason. Last year, he played 14 games with 10 starts, totaling 21 tackles and 2 sacks. The Lions opened his 21-day practice window last week, signaling possible return soon.
LB Malcolm Rodriguez (PUP, 21-day practice window opened 10/27): Rodriguez recorded 42 tackles and 2 sacks before tearing an ACL late last season. He has yet to play in 2025 but had his practice window opened on October 27.
LB Zach Cunningham (IR, eligible to come off IR after Week 12): The former Eagle has appeared in 4 games this season as a reserve run-down linebacker, registering 7 tackles.
OT Giovanni Manu (IR, eligible to come off IR at any time): Manu serves as a backup offensive tackle and started at left tackle in place of injured Taylor Decker in Week 5 against the Bengals. PFF credited him with allowing 2 sacks in that game.
CB Khalil Dorsey (IR, wrist/concussion, eligible to come off IR at any time): Dorsey is a backup defensive back primarily utilized in the slot.
CB Ennis Rakestraw (IR, season over): Rakestraw, a 2024 second-round pick, has battled various injuries and limited playing time. He underwent shoulder surgery after an injury during training camp, ending his season.
