Divine launches as successor to Vine, funded by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey

The formerly popular Vine platform has been away for a long time, but former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is funding a successor that launched this week. Called Divine, the new app is currently available in beta form, offering users a fresh short-form six-second video experience reminiscent of Vine.

Divine allows users not only to create new Vine-style videos using its creator suite but also to explore an extensive archive of over 100,000 videos from the original Vine platform. This archive was rebuilt through the efforts of former Twitter employee Evan Henshaw-Plath, who developed a system to extract Vine’s old data from a collection assembled by the Archive Team, a group dedicated to preserving Vine’s content after the platform shut down.

The launch of Divine was announced this week on the app’s official website and covered by TechCrunch. The platform is accessible as a beta app on both iOS and Android APK.

Notably, Divine takes a firm stance against AI-generated content, outright banning its posting on the platform to preserve authentic creativity.

Key highlights of Divine include:

– Funded by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey through his non-profit organization, And Other Stuff, which was established in May 2025 to support experimental open-source products and tools.
– Access to a vast archive of more than 100,000 Vine videos.
– A creator suite for uploading new six-second videos.
– A strict ban on AI-generated content.

This Vine reboot, dubbed Divine, aims to rekindle the unique creative spirit that originally made Vine a cultural phenomenon.
