Democrats want Andrew to testify as records show he asked Epstein to ‘catch up’ after prison release

Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (D-VA) urged former Prince Andrew to come forward, saying, “If he wants to clear his name, if he wants to do right by the victims, he will come forward,” in an interview with the BBC. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) also expressed willingness to subpoena the former prince, although he acknowledged the challenges of enforcing such an order while Andrew remains outside the United States.

Subramanyam suggested that Windsor could appear remotely and have his lawyer present during any testimony. “However, if Andrew wishes to come to the United States or he’s here, then he’s subject to the jurisdiction of the US Congress, and I would expect him to testify,” Krishnamoorthi added.

The scandal-ridden prince was stripped of his title and evicted from his royal lodge by his brother, King Charles III. His reputation was severely damaged due to his ties to Jeffrey Epstein and accusations of sexual assault made by Virginia Giuffre. The two parties settled out of court in 2022, and Giuffre tragically died by suicide in April 2025.

Both Democratic congressmen serve on the House Oversight Committee, which has been at the forefront of efforts to release materials related to the Epstein case. In September, the committee published more than 33,000 pages of documents provided by the Department of Justice concerning Epstein.

Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump has opposed any continued investigation into the Epstein case. He filed a libel lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal over an article alleging that he wrote a birthday letter for Epstein. The article featured a cryptic dialogue inside the sketched outline of a woman’s body.

Krishnamoorthi issued a direct appeal to Prince Andrew: “Come clean. Come before the US Congress, voluntarily testify. Don’t wait for a subpoena. Come and testify and tell us what you know.”
