Hundreds of people with hearings scheduled in several downtown Los Angeles courthouses will have their matters continued or rescheduled as the buildings will be closed Monday due to street closures and large crowds expected for a parade celebrating the Dodgers’ World Series victory.
City officials are encouraging downtown businesses to allow employees to work from home or adjust their schedules to avoid the heavy traffic anticipated as fans head to the 11 a.m. parade.
The Los Angeles Unified School District announced that all schools will open as usual, but parents should allow extra time to get their children to class.
“I encourage all Dodgers fans to plan ahead for the parade, be prepared and celebrate peacefully, safely, and responsibly,” Mayor Karen Bass said in a news release. The statement also expressed pride over the team’s win.
Los Angeles County officials confirmed that the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration and the County Hall of Records, both located downtown, will also be closed on Monday.
### Parade Route and Details
The parade will begin at Temple Street and Broadway. It will proceed west on Temple, turn south on Grand Avenue, west on 7th Street, then north on Figueroa Street, ending at 5th Street. Officials encourage fans to gather along Grand Avenue, the longest stretch of the route.
Following the parade, a celebration will take place at Dodger Stadium at approximately 12:15 p.m. Please note that fans will need a ticket to attend the celebration event.
The Dodgers team stated that fans will not be able to attend both the parade and the celebration due to timing conflicts and street closures impacting traffic flow.
### Transportation and Traffic Advisory
City officials urge fans to use public transportation to ease congestion. Metrolink will run extra trains on its Antelope Valley, Orange County, and San Bernardino lines to accommodate increased regional travel downtown.
Dodger Stadium Express buses from Union Station and Harbor Gateway will begin operating at 8:30 a.m.
Those driving should anticipate some downtown freeway exits being blocked.
### Courthouse Closures and Case Rescheduling
The courthouses closed Monday include:
– Stanley Mosk Courthouse at 111 N. Hill St.
– Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center at 210 W. Temple St.
– Superior Court departments at the Spring Street Courthouse, 312 N. Spring St.
– Archives and Records Center at 222 N. Hill St.
Restraining order cases scheduled for Monday will be transferred to the Metropolitan Courthouse at 1045 S. Hill St. All other court proceedings at the closed locations will be rescheduled.
### Security Measures
The Los Angeles Police Department is on heightened alert and will have officers stationed along the parade route and near Dodger Stadium to ensure public safety during the events.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to plan ahead, stay safe, and enjoy the celebrations responsibly as the city honors the Dodgers’ World Series victory.
