**INDIANAPOLIS — Cam Thomas is hamstrung. Again.**
Brooklyn’s leading scorer was forced out of Wednesday night’s game at Indiana with an injury to the same troublesome left hamstring that sidelined him last season.
Thomas missed a 15-foot step-back shot with 6:46 left in the first quarter against the Pacers, appearing to hurt himself on the landing. He jogged gingerly back upcourt and called to the bench for a substitution, checking out just 21 seconds later.
The 24-year-old shooting guard was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game by Brooklyn due to left hamstring tightness. The severity of the injury remains unclear.
Last season, Thomas injured the same hamstring three times. Despite that, he averaged a team-high 24.0 points per game on impressive shooting splits of .438/.349/.881 but was limited to just 25 total games.
After failing to secure a long-term contract extension with the Nets last summer as a restricted free agent, Thomas returned on a one-year qualifying offer worth $5.99 million. It was a huge bet on himself as he enters another restricted free agency period. However, an injury during a contract year could prove catastrophic for his future earnings.
Following his scoreless 5:35 of playing time on Wednesday night, Thomas is averaging 21.4 points per game on .402/.356/.875 shooting over eight games this season.
Brooklyn will look to bounce back when they host the Detroit Pistons on Friday.
