42-year-old star officially confirmed to be working for AEW now

A 42-year-old pro-wrestling veteran is seemingly working for AEW in a major backstage role. The news of the Tony Khan-led promotion employing the individual in question, RD Evans, was shared by All Elite announcer Tony Schiavone.

Robert “RD” Evans began his journey in the squared circle back in 2004. He is well-known for his work on the independent circuit across promotions such as Professional Championship Wrestling, New Age Wrestling Alliance, Anarchy Championship Wrestling, IWA-Unlimited, and more.

The Canadian also performed as both a manager and a wrestler in Ring of Honor, where he was involved in storylines with Prince Nana and The Embassy. During his time there, he wrestled notable talents such as Roderick Strong and Hangman Page, among others. Evans is also recognized for his four-year stint in CHIKARA, where he made appearances as Archibald Peck.

Although the 42-year-old star has not wrestled since 2019, he has remained active behind the scenes. Evans has served on the creative teams of WWE and later TNA, showcasing his talents beyond the ring. In June of last year, it was reported that “The Winnipeg Wonder” was working for AEW.

On the latest edition of his *What Happened When* podcast, All Elite Wrestling commentator Tony Schiavone revealed that Robert Evans is employed as a writer in AEW. He heaped praise on Evans, shedding light on how he works with talent, especially on promos.

“Archibald [Peck], or Robert Evans, is one of our writers. He works with the talent, helping with interviews and promos — just a very, very intelligent, super intelligent guy. He and my son Matt became very good friends; they’re both Star Wars nerds. I think we use him the right way because he’s very smart. I’ve seen him work with talent on their skills as far as promos are concerned. He’s very good at it,” Schiavone said. [H/T Ringside News]

On the same podcast, Schiavone further disclosed that the Jacksonville-based promotion has three “very good” writers contributing creatively behind the scenes.

Last week on *Fright Night Dynamite*, Samoa Joe defeated Hook, Bobby Lashley, and Ricochet in a four-way bout to become the number one contender for the AEW Men’s World Title. This victory earned him a shot at the belt at Full Gear 2025.

After his win, Tony Schiavone had “The Samoan Submission Machine” sign the official contract for the pay-per-view bout. He then offered Joe and his trios partners, Katsuyori Shibata and Powerhouse Hobbs, each a beer bottle to share a toast in the ring.

However, in the middle of the toast, “Schiavone” suddenly began to praise Adam Page, which visibly confused Joe. The Samoan Submission Machine and his trios partners soon realized that the person standing behind them in the ring was not the veteran commentator, but The Hangman himself, disguised as Schiavone.

Page quickly took down Shibata and Hobbs with low blows, then battered Joe on the head with his beer bottle. The AEW World Champion then laid out his Full Gear 2025 opponent with a massive Buckshot Lariat, closing out the night standing tall.

Stay tuned for more updates from AEW as the promotion continues to deliver thrilling storylines and exciting backstage developments.
